CPM Student Projects

The purpose of the eFinancials project was to develop an electronic reporting mechanism to enable Department executives and program managers to access useful, current financial information for their respective programs, allowing them to make better and faster financial decisions. eFinancials is a real-time solution and I envision it being the main method of delivery of financial information.

I began this project by creating a suite of financial reports in our Financial Data Warehouse that employees, managers and executives could subscribe to. I then facilitated the installation of a technology called Publisher. Publisher is a component of our Data Warehouse that will assist in the delivery of eFinancial reports. Subscribers of eFinancial reports have the following options:

• Choice of what data is relevant to them
This includes, but is not limited to, any combination of program, region, or bureau.
• Choice of the level of detail in the report
• Choice of having the report delivered to their email inbox in their preferred format, such as Adobe PDF or Microsoft Excel
• Choice of what frequency schedule the report is delivered (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc)

Managing the subscription list is about the only future maintenance requirement of this project; everything else is automated. We will continue to develop new reports in an effort to lessen the reliance on reporting from Financial Management employees and eliminate paper reports entirely.
